Forward Deployed Engineer
FDEs embed with our customers to solve their hardest problems, delivering highly asymmetric business outcomes.
They work where our substrate meets reality. The role demands both intellectual depth and practical command: questioning, composing, and shaping the primitives themselves, while taking responsibility for what those primitives accomplish in a customer’s business.
Every FDE owns both strategy and engineering.
- Strategy: Figure out what the hell is going on: how the business works, what matters, and which opportunities are worth pursuing. Work with operators and executives to evaluate possible paths, define the scope, and lead the change with the customer’s team.
- Engineering: Architect, build, and refine a system that effectively captures the complexity of the problems, creating a unified, robust, and precise product. Work iteratively, using frequent customer feedback to develop and test in tight cycles.
We are looking for people who are highly opinionated and curious about the things that they do. Our work requires people who are precise and organized in their thinking, and communicate actively and effectively. There isn't a clear playbook. You'll have to be able to navigate chaotic, ambiguous, and high-stakes environments.
Given how fast we're growing, we're looking for people who can lead a team of their own within months and contribute to the business well beyond this job description.

- New York City, in person.
- Travel
- ~ 15-50%, on site with customers.
- Compensation
- $125K to $300K cash compensation, plus a performance bonus and stock options.

The process
Expect conversations with the team and working sessions focused on how you think and solve problems. We move quickly; the process can be done in as little as a week.
Refer
Referral terms
- What do I get? $3,000 for each hire you refer, paid once they've been with us for 90 days.
- Who gets credit? You get credit if the candidate used your referral link first and applies within 3 months of clicking it. If someone applies without a link, they can name you on their application and we'll confirm with you.
- What doesn't count? You won't be paid for referring yourself or someone who's already in touch with us or has applied.
- How do I get paid? We'll reach out at the email address you signed up with to set up payment. We'll need a W-9 before we can pay you.
- Which terms apply? Your referral is decided under the terms in force when you created your link. We may update these terms for links created later. Where something is unclear, Rakiya's decision is final.
